Journées organisées par la Commission européenne et le FEPH
The 2022 edition of the European Day of Persons with Disabilities conference is taking place in Brussels on 24 and 25 November 2022.
The European Commission organises this annual conference in partnership with the European Disability Forum to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This 2-day event brings together more than 400 policy-makers, high-level experts and disability advocates. The wide participation of persons with disabilities allows for hearing their concerns and aspirations and to establish a dialogue with public authorities and other stakeholders.
As pointed out in the Strategy for the rights of persons with disabilities, we must work together to make sure persons with disabilities enjoy equal rights and opportunities.
Programme
2022 is the European Year of Youth. We take this opportunity to shine a light on young people with disabilities in Europe and to listen to their experiences and vision for the future.
Our overall goal is a Union of equality where everyone can fully enjoy their rights. We will look at the international instruments at our disposal to make this ambition a reality.
Finally, we will talk about violence. The year 2022 has been marked by the Russian war against Ukraine, with terrible consequences for persons with disabilities. Also outside war and conflict, persons with disabilities face many forms of violence in their lives, such as gender-based violence, violence against older people in institutions and bullying at school.
The conference will be closed by the Access City Award ceremony, where the winner of the 2023 Access City Award will be revealed.
